GLORY
This page is devoted to the study of
the "Glory of God" as it applies to the trials and tribulations of this
life.
Col 1:26Even
the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now
is made manifest to his saints: 27To whom God
would make known what is the riches of the glory
of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of
glory:
Col 1: 3For
ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4When
Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall
ye also appear with him in glory.
2 Peter 1:1Simon
Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have
obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God
and our Saviour Jesus Christ: 2Grace and peace
be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our
Lord, 3According as his divine power hath given
unto us all things that pertain unto life and
godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory
and virtue: 4Whereby are given unto us
exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be
partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is
in the world through lust.
1 Pet 1: 3Blessed
be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again
unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4To
an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away,
reserved in heaven for you, 5Who are kept by
the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in
the last time.
Pet 4: 12Beloved,
think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as
though some strange thing happened unto you: 13But
rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that,
when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding
joy. 14If ye be reproached for the name of
Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and
of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on
your part he is glorified. 15But let none of
you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as
an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. 16Yet
if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be
ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. 17For
the time is come that judgment must begin at the
house of God: and if it first begin
at us, what shall the end be of them that obey
not the gospel of God? 18And if the righteous
scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19Wherefore
let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of
their souls to him in well doing, as unto a
faithful Creator.
1 Peter 5:1The
elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a
witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory
that shall be revealed: 2Feed the flock of God
which is among you, taking the oversight thereof,
not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready
mind; 3Neither as being lords over God's
heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. 4And
when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory
that fadeth not away.
1 Pet 5: 8Be
sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring
lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9Whom
resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are
accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10But
the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by
Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect,
stablish, strengthen, settle you. 11To
him be glory and dominion for ever and ever.
Amen.
1 Cor 2:6Howbeit
we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this
world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought: 7But
we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the
hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the
world unto our glory: 8Which none of the
princes of this world knew: for had they known it,
they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
2 Cor 3: 12Seeing
then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech: 13And
not as Moses, which put a veil over his face,
that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of
that which is abolished: 14But their minds were
blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the
reading of the old testament; which veil is done
away in Christ. 15But even unto this day, when
Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart. 16Nevertheless
when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. 17Now
the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is liberty. 18But
we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord,
are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even
as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Eph 1: 15Wherefore
I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto
all the saints, 16Cease not to give thanks for
you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17That
the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto
you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: 18The
eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is
the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his
inheritance in the saints,
Eph 3: 14For
this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15Of
whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16That
he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be
strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17That
Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and
grounded in love, 18May be able to comprehend
with all saints what is the breadth, and length,
and depth, and height; 19And to know the love
of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all
the fulness of God. 20Now unto him that is able
to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to
the power that worketh in us, 21Unto him be
glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without
end. Amen.
Romans 5:1Therefore
being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus
Christ: 2By whom also we have access by faith
into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of
God. 3And not only so,
but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh
patience; 4And patience, experience; and
experience, hope: 5And hope maketh not ashamed;
because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost
which is given unto us.
Romans 8:1There
is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ
Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2For
the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from
the law of sin and death. 3For what the law
could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his
own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in
the flesh: 4That the righteousness of the law
might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the
Spirit. 5For they that are after the flesh do
mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the
things of the Spirit. 6For to be carnally
minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is
life and peace. 7Because the carnal mind is
enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither
indeed can be. 8So then they that are in the
flesh cannot please God. 9But ye are not in the
flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you.
Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
10And
if Christ be in you, the body is
dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life
because of righteousness. 11But if the Spirit
of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised
up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his
Spirit that dwelleth in you. 12Therefore,
brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13For
if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit
do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14For
as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 15For
ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have
received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16The
Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children
of God:
17And
if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if
so be that we suffer with him, that we may be
also glorified together. 18For I reckon that
the sufferings of this present time are not
worthy to be compared with the glory which shall
be revealed in us. 19For the earnest
expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons
of God. 20For the creature was made subject to
vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the
same in hope, 21Because the creature
itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the
glorious liberty of the children of God. 22For
we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain
together until now. 23And not only they,
but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we
ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to
wit, the redemption of our body. 24For
we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man
seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25But if we
hope for that we see not, then do we with
patience wait for it.
26Likewise
the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should
pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us
with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27And
he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the
mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints
according to the will of God. 28And
we know that all things work together for good to them that love God,
to them who are the called according to his
purpose.
29For
whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be
conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among
many brethren. 30Moreover whom he did
predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also
justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31What
shall we then say to these things? If God be for
us, who can be against us? 32He
that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall
he not with him also freely give us all things? 33Who
shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is
God that justifieth. 34Who is
he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea
rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who
also maketh intercession for us. 35Who shall
separate us from the love of Christ? shall
tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or
peril, or sword? 36As it is written, For thy
sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the
slaughter. 37Nay, in all these things we are
more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38For
I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor
principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor
height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us
from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 9:1I
say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me
witness in the Holy Ghost, 2That I have great
heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. 3For
I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my
kinsmen according to the flesh: 4Who are
Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and
the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the
service of God, and the promises; 5Whose
are the fathers, and of whom as concerning
the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God
blessed for ever. Amen.
John 13:31Therefore,
when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is
glorified in him. 32If God be glorified in him,
God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify
him. 33Little children, yet a
little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the
Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you. 34A new commandment I give
unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also
love one another. 35By this shall all men
know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John 13:
John
21: 26Men's
hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which
are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27And then shall they see the
Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28And when these things begin
to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your
redemption draweth nigh.
[The following is not
only about the Glory of God, but it also helps explain how the
Tabernacle fits into our lives as well.]
Hebrews 9:1Then
verily the first covenant had also ordinances of
divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. 2For
there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was
the candlestick, and the table, and the showbread; which is called the
sanctuary. 3And after the second veil, the
tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; 4Which
had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about
with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had
manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; 5And
over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we
cannot now speak particularly. 6Now when these
things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first
tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. 7But
into the second went the high priest alone once
every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for
the errors of the people:
8The
Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was
not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: 9Which
was a figure for the time then present, in
which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him
that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; 10Which
stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and
carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time
of reformation. 11But Christ being come an high
priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect
tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12Neither
by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in
once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for
us. 13For if the blood of bulls and
of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean,
sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14How
much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit
offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead
works to serve the living God?
15And
for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means
of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were
under the first testament, they which are called might receive the
promise of eternal inheritance. 16For where a
testament is, there must also of necessity be the
death of the testator. 17For a testament is
of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all
while the testator liveth. 18Whereupon neither
the first testament was dedicated without blood. 19For
when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the
law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet
wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people, 20Saying,
This is the blood of the testament which God hath
enjoined unto you. 21Moreover he sprinkled with
blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry. 22And
almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without
shedding of blood is no remission.
23It
was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the
heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things
themselves with better sacrifices than these. 24For
Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which
are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to
appear in the presence of God for us: 25Nor yet
that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into
the holy place every year with blood of others; 26For
then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but
now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by
the sacrifice of himself. 27And as it is
appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 28So
Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that
look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
